GPS Nav.
Turn-by-turn navigation that tells you the speed limit is about to change before you pass the sign. I built it for my own truck and I use it every time I go somewhere. It's free — if it's useful to you, take it.
Built for the windshield
Speed limit, spoken early
It calls out the change while you still have room to slow down, instead of flashing a number after you're already past the sign.
Turn-by-turn voice
Spoken directions off real route progress, with only the next maneuver announced so turns don't stack up on top of each other in town.
Keeps talking in your pocket
Guidance continues with the screen off and while you're in another app.
Ask it out loud
Tap the mic and ask things like "how far to go?" — it answers from the route itself, so it still works with no signal.
Saved places
Home, the shop, the supply house. Plus recent destinations, so the second trip somewhere takes two taps.
Walk mode & route choices
Pick between routes, avoid what you want to avoid, or switch to walking.
Five minutes, one time
This isn't on the Play Store yet, so your phone will ask permission before it installs an app from a website. That warning is normal and it's the same step for any app installed outside the store.
- On your Android phone, tap Download for Android above. Chrome will warn you that this kind of file can harm your device — choose Download anyway.
- Open the downloaded file (pull down your notifications and tap it, or find gps-nav.apk in your Downloads).
- Android will say your phone isn't allowed to install unknown apps. Tap Settings, then turn on Allow from this source, then press back.
- Tap Install, then Open.
- When it asks for location, choose While using the app at minimum. For guidance to keep talking with the screen off, choose Allow all the time.
Heads up: this is a personal project I'm still testing, not a polished commercial product. It works well enough that it's the only nav I use, but treat it as a second opinion and keep your eyes on the road — the posted sign is always the real speed limit.

Tell me about it
I'd rather hear that it broke than have you quietly delete it. Text me what your phone did and I'll look at it.
